Zen Zone - Workshop Schedule
The following workshops will be held in a Colorado Yurt Company 20'x20' yurt, which has been erected in Zen Zone to help attendees get a feel for the tranquility of "living in the round".

11:00 am Saturday  —  Chen-Style Tai Ji
Typically Tai Ji is practiced in order to derive its health benefits such as exercise, stress relief, increased flexibility, and low blood pressure. While this practice is worthy in and of itself, learning the martial application as provided by Meridian Gate Kung Fu not only teaches the health benefits of Tai Ji but also brings the student to a deeper, more meaningful understanding of what it is to direct energy (qi;chi) in a martial application thereby allowing the student to direct energy within their day-to-day activities.

After twenty-three years of martial instruction, Lao Shi Kurt Yungeberg was invited to directly study and train with Zhang Shun Rong an Inner Door disciple of Chen Zheng Lei, one of the four world greats of Chen-style Tai Ji. Having recently returned from his two-year intensive study with Shun Rong in China, Lao Shi Yungeberg, in his personal and classroom instruction conveys the depth and significance of having a more complete understanding of the art of Tai Ji Quan.

1:00 pm Saturday  —  Vinyasa Yoga Workshop
Vinyasa yoga translates loosely into "placing with special meaning" and refers to the sequencing of postures, or asana, within the yoga class. The emphasis is is on intuiting the body's state in that moment. Postures unfold, usually building into a main pose, and include counter poses to unwind and neutralize the spine, for instance, after a backbend. Each shape is moved rather dance-like into another following the tempo of the breath. Clarity, focus and intention are important aspects of the thought process in this class as well as breathwork and meditation. The result is a personalized practice for the body's ever changing needs.

11:00 am Sunday  —  Tai Chi
Tai chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise. To do tai chi, you perform a defined series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each movement or posture flows into the next without pausing.

Tai chi is sometimes described as "meditation in motion." Originally developed in China as a form of self-defense, this graceful form of exercise has existed for about 2,000 years. It's becoming increasingly popular around the world, both as a basic exercise program and as a complement to other health care methods. Health benefits include stress reduction, greater balance and increased flexibility.

1:00 pm Sunday  —  Guided Meditation
Peaceful Meditation Sampler:Ê Meditation is a practice of turning our attention inward, and focusing our intention while quieting the mind. ItÕs an opportunity to sit in the mystery and experience our own divinity. When we still the mind in meditation we are drawn, like bees to honey, to the presence of god within.

We will experience a few types of meditation practices from different spiritual paths, some active others passive and potentially find a meditation that fits in your lifestyle and spiritual preference. Sharing meditation with a group is very powerful and can assist your solitary practice. Meditation just like prayer can be done in all sorts of ways. Possibilities include walking, sitting, chanting, silence, contemplative, centering prayer, guided imagery, journaling, and many more.
