It is our privilege to host nationally recognized and honored poets to the stage for the third year in a row. These socially conscious linguistic acrobats will steal your hearts, stir your passions, and challenge your minds with powerful and moving performances that discuss life in the local, and existence in the global. Be sure to not miss these homegrown griots and grioettes as they rock the mic and shake the stage.

4:00pm SAT The Grip
The ‘Grip’ is old British slang meaning sickness, and this illness’ symptoms are making people boogie. Exploding onto the Colorado music scene in 2007, The Grip is an organ trio fusing funk, jazz, neo-soul, and blues into one original mix of tunes. Infectious grooves, talented players, and a blend of classic and modern sounds comprise the sound of The Grip. Their music is always groovy and full of funk to dance to, but also keeps a close tie to jazz and blues intellectual roots. Already, The Grip has been named as the first house band for Hodi’s Half Note in Fort Collins with more offers continually being received. Their infectious music will soon be heard all across the Northern Colorado Front Range and beyond with no end in sight for how far the epidemic might spread. www.thegripfunk.com

5:00pm SAT Cabila BellyDance

5:30pm SAT Musketeer Gripweed
Musketeer Gripweed makes original music from the heart. “We put everything into our music, and as people, on a basic level, our friendships drive us to create and play. We have patience, mindfulness, and we care about each other and the people that enjoy our music.” Performance Energy, Gutbucket Soul, and an old school/organic songwriting approach continues to propel Musketeer Gripweed into the hearts and minds of musicians and fans. Their first album, Peace Will Win, is reminiscent of a soulful mix between the Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan & The Band, with the soul of Joe Cocker and Bill Withers. Heavy with Hammond organ, smokin harmonica, slide guitar, and loaded with the energy of nationally recognized vocalist and songwriter, Jason Downing, the band makes for an incredible live experience.

Backed by His Bottom Line Band or solo, Campbell speaks to the hopes, fears, love, loss, failure and redemption of living. This bridge helps to bring all walks of people together. Its foundation is built upon respect and value for traditional African culture. The bridge of community is sustained and enriched by everyone who shares, studies, and celebrates this rich culture.

5:00pm SUN Blue Grama Band
Blue Grama is a hot new bluegrass band out of Fort Collins. Taking their name from the long-lived, warm season, native Colorado grass, Blue Grama blends the sound of the Appalachian hills with the high plains of the Rockies. Just as the grass roots hold tight to the soil, Blue Grama is deeply rooted in bluegrass tradition, inspired by greats like Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, and Del McCoury Band. Blue Grama’s repertoire includes a suite of original songs, bluegrass standards, and “grassy” cover tunes. The members of Blue Grama share a passion for music, taking every opportunity to feed their bluegrass habit, and share their music with others.
