Internship Program Overview

Interns are an integral part of the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association and they support virtually every aspect of our operations. These inspiring people are an essential part of the organization's on-going mission of educating people and communities in the Rocky Mountain region to make healthy sustainable choices. Interns assist staff and participate in all programs offered by the RMSLA. This includes helping to coordinate and host our annual fair and year-round workshops; supporting the planning of events; marketing, helping around the office; staffing special events, and much, much more!

Internships are dedicated to the support of the Association and are highly demanding - however, with the right combination of energy, focus, dedication, teamwork and positivity, interns are able to reap the benefits of a dynamic experience with a leading organization committed to applying vision and expertise towards a sustainable future for all.

The internship program is open to all individuals who share a passion for learning about sustainability and have an interest in empowering people with skills and knowledge to help themselves and to educate others.

Internships last seven months and all are unpaid. During their time with the RMSLA, interns are required to work a total of 15 hours per week in the direct support of a staff member and/or a specific program. In exchange for their time and energy, the RMSLA provides interns with free access to the fair, participation in workshops (based on space availability), access to other special events and the opportunity to experience the various benefits of being part of the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association family.

The 2010 internship period will be from March 1st to September 30, 2010.

Organization Description:

The Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association (RMSLA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to applying our vision and expertise toward a sustainable future for all. We are a solution-driven organization with the distinguishing quality to move people toward powerful and profound choices in an effort to stave off complacency about issues affecting our world.

Our mission is to educate people and communities in the Rocky Mountain region to make healthy sustainable choices. Each year, since 2000 RMSLA has hosted the Sustainable Living Fair, the largest event of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region. Since the Fair’s inception, thousands of people have been inspired to take action on issues such as sustainable living practices, renewable energy, environmental & social responsibility, green building, natural health, alternative vehicles & fuels, organic agriculture, local economies and more. As a working model of how to live and succeed within the realm of environmental and social responsibility, the Fair has become a national destination point for sustainable education and information.

Our educational programs and workshops offer creative challenges, delivering valuable, long-term benefits for a wide range of community interests that improve the relationship between people and the environment. These programs forge connections between ideas, principles and resources and harness communication to better understand and express essential relationships that combine a local sense of place with global respect for sustainability.
