This 8-hour class covers the fundamentals of off-grid renewable energy system design for those who are considering moving off the grid, or want a more thorough knowledge of the system they already have. System sizing and siting, photovolaic arrays, wind turbines, battery banks, backup generators, wiring, safety disconnects and more are covered. Also there will be some discussion about the costs and economics of off grid systems.

Colorado’s solar access offers us clean, renewable energy to cook our food. This workshop will demonstrate multiple technologies available from simple to complex for solar cooking here in our state. Links for plans to make your own cooker along with recipe ideas and samples using local foods will be provided.

Off Grid Power Systems – Hands On

Workshop Date: August 20th, 2012

This 3 day, hands-on class, August 20-22 covers the fundamentals of off-grid renewable energy system design and installation for those who are considering moving off the grid, or want a more thorough knowledge of the system they already have. System sizing and siting, photovolaic arrays, wind turbines, battery banks, backup generators, wiring, safety disconnects and more are covered. Students will participate in an actual installation, and will receive 24 Continuing Education Credit Hours from NABCEP and IREC.
