Future Friday with Poudre School District - NEW for 2009

Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association partnered with the Poudre School District to produce the 1st Annual FUTURE FRIDAY, September 18th, 2009 at the 10th annual Sustainable Living Fair Venue site. FUTURE FRIDAY was a “green field day” for Poudre School District High School students, to connect local youth with the national and regional sustainability expertise that is gathered in Fort Collins during the Sustainable Living Fair. We were able to provide 14 Workshops and 2 Panel Discussions for a total of 12 hours of education for around 500 students from 4 local high schools.

We have yet to pay for transportation and t-shirts and other expenses incurred from this day. If you would to help us cover these costs, please contact Kristina Cash at Kristina@SustainableLivingAssociation.org. We are also accepting contributions to make Future Friday possible in 2010.

FEATURES:
Relevant and current workshops and panels on eco lifestyles for teens, green careers, youth community building and volunteering opportunities, environmental action and leadership, entrepreneurship, money management and conscious consumerism, renewable energy, energy savings at home, land conservation, organic gardening and composting, community gardens, Local food in Local Schools movement, backyard chickens, building with re-purpose, woodworking, metal working and blacksmithing and pottery, sustainable business practices and Fair Trade, local economies, yoga, tai chi, Teens Turning Green spa, skate ramp, enviro & indie short films and music videos, DJ, PeaceJam and more.

The theme is the future of our planet and how you have the power to sustain our natural resources and bring about change through safe, healthy and conscious consumer and lifestyle choices. Inspire actions that sustain our earth! That’s why the day is called FUTURE FRIDAY!
