FUTURE FRIDAY, a “green field day” for Poudre School District High School students, connects local youth with national and regional sustainability experts who gather in Fort Collins during the Sustainable Living Fair. Eleven workshops and hands-on sustainable projects are offered during the day. Last year, around 500 students from 4 local high schools participated, and 2010 will see even more students and teachers involved. FEATURES Workshop offerings include eco-lifestyles for teens, renewable energy, food and local economy, leadership in local and global communities, natural resources and biomimicry, and climate education. Students can participate in hands-on projects in river studies, Re-Visions art, sustainable building, a car-free lifestyle, welding, blacksmithing, and lathe activities. Kids can enter their lunch in The Unlunchable Contest to show off their knowledge of sustainable packaging and food. Winners will receive prizes. More details coming soon.
