Dan Bartman

Dan Bartmann has lived off grid since he was a child and now runs Otherpower.com from a small wind powered workshop in Northern Colorado. Otherpower.com has built over 100 wind turbines and helped countless people build their own. They have been involved with several workshops in the last few years, including leading the Sustainable Living Fair Homebrew Wind Turbine Workshop the past five years. Dan co-authored the book Homebrew Wind Power: A Hands-On Guide to Harnessing the Wind.
Corwin Bell

Corwin has been passionately working with bees for over 14 years. He practices a holistic approach in caring for bees that focuses on enhancing the bee's immune system through attentive listening, meditative communing, right timing and sustainable methods. In his courses he reveals a connection between bees and humankind as symbolic of a broader interconnection between humans and the natural world. Corwin promotes a "backyard" hive method and philosophy in which he encourages and inspires interested and willing individuals to connect with bees through an altruistic Guardianship that goes beyond hobbyist beekeeping. Bell travels widely giving lectures and workshops to raise awareness of honeybee genetic biodiversity and to promote alternatives to conventional beekeeping practices. His is currently working on a book The Bee Guardian, which delves into this approach.
Kari Bremer

She began her career 12 years ago building natural and green homes focusing her handiwork on timber framing, straw bale, light clay and earth plastering traditions. After working with master builders and architects in New Mexico, Washington, Colorado and in Scandinavia, Kari began her design / build business in the Southwestern United States in 1998. She has structurally designed over 70,000 square feet of natural buildings and has built, with a crew, over 30 residences. She is a lifelong student of architecture, art, sustainability and ecosystems both marine and dryland. An avid hiker, sailor, snorkeler and sculptor she currently works out of her office in Durango, Colorado.
Ben Friesen, M.A.

Ben has been active in the green building and renewable energy field for over a decade. He holds a Masters degree in Environmental Studies. As owner and president of Mile Hi Solar, llc (in Loveland, CO) he specializes in solar Thermal and PV as well as green building consulting. He has been involved in many renewable energy projects over the years including work for the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Border Patrol, grocery stores, hotels, manufacturing facilities and several schools. Ben has also completed over a thousand residential projects. He holds several Master Mechanical and HV licences in Northern Colorado as well as ICC Certification and Certification from Endecon Engineering. Ben regularly engages in doing presentations and public speaking events on renewable energy.
Greg Michaud

Greg Michaud instructs our Backyard Chicken series and our Biointensive Gardening Course. Greg is a long-time holistic gardener turned sustainable ecofarmer/health-foodie with training in organic certification inspection. He & his wife Patty run "The Old Feed Store" and "The Old Farm Stand: A Clean Food Alliance," hosting local growers and food producers in farmers market and farm-direct sales support.
Curtis Sheib

Curtis Scheib the founder and CEO of Ecobuilders grew up in the environs of Missouri. After years of research and experimentation he founded Ecobuilders with a mission statement that each structure built should be as energy efficient as possible, to provide high indoor air quality, as well as make the lowest impact on the future generations according to the materials, techniques and implementation of there use. The structures Ecobuilders builds encompass all of these elements into them from site impacts to local and healthy products and all the other aspects of sustainable building and living. He is constantly rattling his brain to come up with healthier, cost effective ways of living in a more sustainable world. Curtis has taught with the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association for over 8 years at the annual Sustainable Living Fair.
Steve Byers

Steve Byers is one of the Principals of EnergyLogic Inc., a Colorado based energy services organization primarily serving the residential construction industry. Leaving the Air Force after flying for five years, Steve got involved in the building science industry working for Southface Energy Institute in Atlanta. Relocating in 1997 to Colorado, Steve began working in the HERS industry. It’s been a labor of love and EnergyLogic has grown into the largest energy rating company in Colorado, now working in existing homes, commercial buildings and supporting a wide variety of programs. Steve is a trainer and nationally recognized lecturer on the rating industry, both for technical content and for business development issues. He serves on the RESNET board and is active in multiple industry related organizations.
Jason Acosta

Jason Acosta is EnergyLogic’s Existing Home Division Lead. In that role, he is directly responsible for both the management of EnergyLogic’s energy auditing arm, but also our energy retrofit division. He works closely to both train and manage our energy auditing staff of seven auditors. He has been a key member of our team with regard to our continual process improvement efforts. This includes interaction with our software development teams to meet the ever changing needs of our existing home market. Jason is a highly experienced energy rater and will sit for his RESNET Quality Assurance Designee test in the near future.
Jim Tolstrup

Jim Tolstrup is the Executive Director of the High Plains Environmental Center in Loveland, CO. HPEC works with developers, businesses and homeowners to promote the restoration and conservation of Colorado’s native biodiversity in the suburban environments where we live, work and play. Jim has written numerous articles on gardening and environmental stewardship for various publications, and is a past recipient of Denver Water’s Xeriscape Award and ALCC’s Excellence in Landscaping Merit Award.
Beth Conrey

Beth Conrey is the owner of Bee Squared Apiaries offering honey, hand rolled beeswax candles, swarm catching and hive removal. Beth serves as the President of the Northern Colorado Beekeepers Association (NCBA), an organization of both hobbyist and commercial beekeepers. NBCA exists to provide a forum for education in beekeeping and for exchange of ideas and experiences.
